Advisory panel nixes year round school in Frederick County
After ten months of study the 14 member Future Growth and School Schedule Advisory Committee rejected year round schooling for Frederick County. The panel proposed using vacant retail buildings as temporary elementary schools and creating a fund for community donations toward construction. They urged split shifts in high schools at 140 percent capacity and noted Singanore High at 118 percent. The report also backs portable classrooms, an evening high school for Frederick city, and countywide fundraising coordination.
