German masses attack Verdun repelled with heavy losses
German troops massed north of Dead Man's Hill near Verdun and at Hill 304 and Vaux were repulsed by French forces. Two German counterattacks on a trench north of Cumieres failed. British HQ says Germans briefly entered British trenches near Meysines but were driven out. Also reports of a Mormon colony at Chulchupa burned, likely set by Mexicans.
