Montgomery County halts taking Washington sludge in Germantown
Montgomery County Executive Charles W. Gilchrist notified DC Mayor Marion Barry that the county will stop taking any more of the District of Columbia sludge share. Starting in July the county will cut its sludge allotment by one third, extending the life of current disposal sites. Three new trenching sites were selected in Germantown and a public hearing will be held in early June.
