Wage concessions inked in miners' four year pact
A tentative agreement between coal operators and the United Mine Workers promises a four year raise totaling about nine million dollars, boosting day wages by roughly fifteen and a half percent with an eight hour day. The plan includes a closed shop and union check off, opposed by operators as un-American. The deal, to be signed if ratified, would be forwarded to the mineral convention at Pottsville and then the state board.
