United Nations 50th anniversary and current initiatives

The United Nations marks its 50th anniversary in 1995 with renewed global involvement in peacekeeping development and human rights. UN efforts focus on conflict prevention, humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and health initiatives, led by agencies like WHO and UNICEF in cooperation with member states and NGOs. Controversies arise over security council veto power, funding levels, and sovereignty versus humanitarian intervention. The current actions align with the UN’s mission to maintain international peace, support development, protect human rights, and provide humanitarian assistance, while debates center on intervention timing, resource allocation, and power dynamics among member nations.
