Farmer seeks county support for school funding increase

Frederick County School Superintendent Dr. Farmer urged parents to aid his push for more local funding as the county commission prepares a public hearing on the proposed budget. He requests about 74.6 million dollars for schools, a 158 percent rise over last year, while the plan allocates roughly 70 million, 4.5 million less than the school board seeks. The dispute centers on higher costs, mandated maintenance, and salary increases as officials debate how to avoid deep cuts in education.
