Washington hearing featured Dr Riccardo Giacconi of Johns Hopkins Space Telescope Science Institute urging faster launch of the space telescope planned for a 360 mile orbit on Atlantis in 1964 and outlining its potential to deliver tenfold clearer views of planets and galaxies.
