Montgomery panel urged to lift secret counseling directive
A group of psychiatrists and psychologists pressed the Montgomery County Board of Education to rescind an internal directive that teachers not inform parents when a child may need counseling. Carroll County Bus Drivers Call Off Planned Strike
Carroll County school bus contractors canceled a Tuesday morning strike after a meeting with the Carroll County Board of Education and county commissioners. Bus owners sought a five cent per mile funding increase retroactive to January, with the state agreeing to cover two cents. the board will cover the remaining three cents if needed. The commissioners promised to consider the request.

Walkersville High Student Charged With Pot Possession
A 16-year-old Walkersville High student was charged with possession of marijuana after authorities recovered a small quantity of cannabis and two pipes. The incident was reported by Tre Barry Schrum, with state police notified by school officials. Last week three county high school students faced marijuana charges, including one from Walkersville and two from Middletown High School.

Two arrests in Frederick County motor vehicle case and vandalism
Frederick County Sheriff’s Department reports two arrests Friday night. James Robert Benson of Knoxville faces charges for speeding reckless driving eluding police after a pursuit from Md 180 to Lander and Fry roads. He was treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital and released. Also Vance Prisco of Bricktown NJ was charged with tampering with a sheriff’s van parked at the courthouse.
