San Francisco May 1 Terry McGovern defeated Oscar Gardiner in the fourth round at Mechanics Pavilion before the Twentieth Century Athletic Club to claim the world featherweight championship. Referee was Harry Corbett. Purse was 5000 dollars with 75 percent to the winner and 25 percent to the loser. McGovern set the pace, Gardiner landed few clean blows as he absorbed heavy punishment and fell multiple times.
