A fire Tuesday at the Hartford Michigan poorhouse in Van Buren County killed fifteen or sixteen inmates. The blaze destroyed the building with an estimated loss of ten thousand dollars, insured.
A Washington dispatch reports a runaway style wedding at Trinity Church last evening in which about twenty five witnesses attended. Terry J Norris of Poolesville MD and Miss Molle A McAlbaugh of Dayesville MD wed with Rev Dr Addison officiating. They left for a future home in Atontanenees county.
Four Washington youths aged about half grown left home to visit a Baltimore baseball game. On returning they rode as far as Relay house then walked to Elkridge landing. Alick Troxall attempted to jump a passenger train, were frightened by the conductor and fell under a Washington bound train, killed instantly. The funeral will be held at De Frees street. his father is a brick-layer.
A Senate committee report proposes a joint resolution to oversee the dedication ceremonies on February 22, 1885. A five Senator and eight Representative commission along with Monument Society members and the U S engineer would organize events, a public procession, and a speech by Con Robert C Winthrop with Marine Band music and a 100 gun salute.
