Fire alarms logged in the past 24 hours ending 8 p.m. show several brush fires with multiple responders. At 4:12 a.m. on New Design Road a brush fire prompted Uniteds to respond. Braddock Heights dispatched at 1:54 a.m. for a brush fire. A 1:48 p.m. alert on 9417 Glade Ave prompted Walkersville to respond. At 2:23 p.m. a brush fire on 11808 Anglebarger Road drew response from Lewistown Graceham and Woodsboro. A 5:30 p.m. call on Rod Run Road off MD 180 saw Jefferson crews respond.

Frederick to cut garbage collections to two days weekly
Frederick will reduce weekly pickups from three to two starting May 2 as mayor Ronald Young announced. North of Second Street and east of U S 15 will collect Mondays and Thursdays, south and east areas Tuesdays and Fridays, and the rest, west of U S 15, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Downtown crews will clear Patrick and Market streets daily except Sunday with residents urged to place trash out the night before.

Bullfrog Road Bridge Closed for Check
County road crews closed the Bullfrog Road Bridge over the Monocacy River to inspect a loose hearing at the bridge bearing. Engineer Maurice Daly said the span, about 80 years old, will remain shut until a full inspection confirms its condition.
