Pulled Back From the Edge of Death by Illnesses
AAP profiles three survivors Thomas Blanchfield Harold Fennema and Madeline Owen who escaped fatal diagnoses. Blanchfield beat bone marrow cancer after chemotherapy and a costly misdiagnosis lawsuit. Fennema survived Hodgkin's disease following an experimental drug after years of treatment, now mentoring patients. Owen beat acute leukemia after traumatic fears and a long battle with treatment and relapse concerns.
