Industry Chief Speaks on Frederick Area Advantages
Dr. Robert Sparks of the Maryland Department of Economic Development told about 100 Frederick Jaycees that the Frederick area offers four key advantages for new industries. He cited central location at railway intersections, an engaged chamber staff, a strong labor market with caveats on skilled labor, and the area’s proximity to Washington as a potential asset or drawback depending on industry. The meeting was in the Francis Scott Key Hotel with local officials including Clyde Roney Sr. and Roney’s colleagues from the Frederick Industrial Development Commission.
