Attorneys For Rees Seek New Trial
Melvin Davis Rees Jr. seeks a new trial in U S District Court Baltimore arguing a WBAL TV reenactment of jury deliberations aired 12 hours before sentencing violated his rights. Rees, 31, from Hyattsville Md, was convicted Feb 23 of kidnapping Mildred Jackson and daughter Susan, whose bodies were later found near Gambrills.

Ballenger Grange Meeting Plans and Lecturers Conference
Ballenger Grange held its regular meeting March 24 at the Community Hall in Feagaville. It announced that the lecturers conference will be held in Elmyra New York April 14 15 and 16 and that Ballenger Grange will send its lecturer. Other notices included the State run off of the play contest and talent contest March 23 at 7 30 p m at Howard County High School and the Frederick County Pomona Grange meeting with Montgomery County Pomona Grange March 27 at 8 p m at Sandy Springs. The education committee led a literary program and Miss Louise Doty spoke about her 3000 mile tour behind the Iron Curtain.
