Railroads seek national bargaining on hose coupling and oppose a specific arbitration point. D. P. Loomis said President Truman may name an arbiter, while Dr. John R. Steelman faces criticism from the union. Yard and road workers have already gained cost of living linked raises. Sen Morse urged submission of the hose issue to arbitration if Kennedy’s position is supported.
