The city faces a damp Easter weekend with showers easing tonight and Sunday expected to be fair and warmer. Forecasters note yesterday’s nearly two inch rain as relief or omen, and shoppers anticipate Easter purchases despite ongoing transport and bank schedules.

Lieutenant Thomas A. Wood 27 an army mail flyer was killed when his attack plane loaded with 500 pounds of mail crashed four miles north of a farm near Dewitt Iowa. Diplomatic strains feared between Greece and Turkey as Captain Mousouris protested detention of Insull in the Bosporus Straits. Police requested a guard in Insull cabin but he refused while an agent remained outside his door.
The National Geographic Society plans to present its Hubbard gold medal to Mrs. Charles A. Lindbergh for her assistance to the aviator during the flight to Europe and back last year. Mr. and Mrs. Lindbergh and Mrs. Dwight W. Morrow were expected to arrive in Washington this afternoon for the award ceremony.
Earl Bleecher aged 45, father of six, burned to death when a kerosene lamp toppled during reading at his home in Lancaster Pa. A passerby saw flames and notified firefighters who found Bleecher deceased. A separate item notes a birthday surprise party for Mr. Fages at Buckertown with multiple attendees and gifts.
