Park camping plan praised by state horticulturist in Maryland
J Andrew Cabill of Hancock, president of the Maryland State Horticultural Society, writes to John N. Mackall, chairman of the State Roads Commission, praising the plan to establish highway camping sites for tourists. Maryland's first camp will open west of Frederick this spring. He urges sites be placed at convenient intervals near large towns to advertise the state and provide comfortable, sanitary, and affordable facilities for visitors. Mackall aims to set aside acreages with water, sewerage, lighting, and amenities, while civic bodies help secure locations to avoid nuisance and fires, following practice in Western states.
