Weinberg Center funding in doubt amid aging theater

The Weinberg Center in Frederick risks missing a $150,000 state capital grant needed for a heating system and other improvements. Del James E. McClellan says the chances are slim, while Fred Broadrup warns the structure will struggle without funds. The 60 year old building, damaged by a 1976 flood, has undergone restoration to its former grandeur but still requires upgrades and weatherproofing. Local and state grants have previously funded roof stabilization, bathrooms, plastering, and fire exits, with ongoing reliance on city funds for salaries and operations.
