Police cruiser damaged man charged in Middletown crash
A 21 year old Myersville man, Morris R. Kendall, was charged with drunk driving and failure to reduce speed after his 1965 car rear ended a state police cruiser on U.S. 404 near Middletown. The unmarked cruiser driven by Tpr. E. E. Pletcher sustained trunk and bumper damage and was driven away. Kendall reported no injuries. Investigating officer Cpl. R. A. Miles cited excessive speed and driver error alongside alcohol as factors. In other city cases, Irving J. H. Shankle Jr. faced assault charges, James W. Fultz was jailed for disorderly intoxication at Frederick Memorial Hospital, and several others were cited for speeding or running a stop sign.
