Kennedy Tax Measure Passes House
In a partisan vote, the House approved President Kennedy’s tax measure after a push from the White House. Republicans fought a two- provision plan aimed at withholdings on dividends and a 7 percent business credit, while final passage stood at 219 to 196 with modest Democratic defections. The measure heads to the Senate for further debate and hearings.

Tax changes could widen deficit amid overseas earnings rules
The House Ways and Means Committee plans heavier taxes on income earned overseas by American companies and individuals. The anticipated extra revenue may fall about 600 million short of losses from incentive tax credits. The administration hopes for a large 1963 budget surplus. Hearings start Monday before Senate Finance Committee chaired by Senator Harry F Byrd and are expected to last four weeks.

Goldberger Award to honor rickettsia and scurvy work
Presentation of the 1962 Joseph Goldberger Award with a commemorative plaque and $1,000 will be made at the AMA annual meeting in Chicago June 24-28. Dr Park's rat based investigations clarified the patterns of rickets and scurvy. Very bad diplomacy Petersen says Kennedy trade bill veto would be viewed as no confidence in the future.
