County Agencies to Involve Planning and Zoning on Site Picks
County Commissioners approve enforcement of a state law requiring the county planning and zoning commission to participate in selecting sites for all county construction projects including roads buildings and parks. Commission President Charles E. Collins says the commission will be involved from the planning stage and that the planning and zoning panel should work on the ground floor of all county projects. George Speer, planning and zoning chairman, notes others may be unaware of the law’s requirements. The move follows a meeting with the planning and zoning commission and does not stem from recent school site disputes.
