Why Can't Johnny Play
Johnny Doe, a Frederick County junior high student, excels in baseball and basketball and dreams of a pro career. Yet junior high varsity athletics are outlawed in the county, denying him chances to compete while neighboring districts allow intramural and junior high play. His father challenges the policy, citing Conant’s report and asking why Johnny cannot try out for teams or participate in junior high sports.
