Police Court Fines $25 in Barking Dog Case

Magistrate Thomas Glass summarized his own version of The Case of the Barking Dog in police court on Wednesday night. He reduced what appeared to be a major series of misdemeanors to a single infraction for which a $25 fine was imposed on the defendant James Robert Castle of South Jefferson Street after nearly an hour of testimony.

One-armed men and a dog sparked a court day

Magistrate Glass handled a case in which Castle faced charges of intoxication and disturbing the peace, later acquitting him of the first two charges. The incident stemmed from a dog barking on Hubert Harp’s property and a confrontation that led to a stick strike, a garbage toss, and police involvement. Castle was fined 25 and costs for disturbing the peace.
