Directors Report Highlights From Potomac Light and Power
The company noted lower total expenditures for property additions than any year since its 1923 formation. Inspections of generating units were excellent. Potomac Light and Power plans to buy the Harpers Ferry hydro plant once regulatory approval is secured. The 640 kilowatt plant will bolster capacity. Bus loading eased, reducing earlier travel discomforts. Passenger streetcar demand remains high, and rail freight is at a multi year peak due to war materials salvage. Trolley salvage included discontinuing the Jefferson street railway line and recovering valuable trolley wire and equipment. New directors Cushwa Gambrill LeGore joined during the year. The company cooperates with 160+ electric utilities in a national advertising program. Directors and officers listed include J. David Bailey, J. H. Gambrill III, Paul S. Michael, E. Charles Renn, R. Ross, and others from across several towns.
