Boatman Drowns in Potomac as Survey Party Rescued
A boatman, Archie Noose, 21, from Harpers Ferry West Virginia, drowned when the survey launch struck a bridge pier in the Potomac River. Two other crew members, Cords A. Goldheimer and Hoan Sewell of Baltimore, were rescued by linemen and Potomac Basin workers. The boat was thrown against a pier near the West Virginia side. the two survivors clung to the pier and were saved. Noose was unmarried and the sons of Mr and Mrs Ha Noose of the Virginia Shenandoah river shore. The two rescued men were part of a survey party from the Baltimore office of the State Roads Commission. The boat was crushed and broke apart in the turbulent current.
