The zebra wolf or native tiger is a marsupial, not related to a true wolf or zebra. It belongs with kangaroo and wombat, bears a doglike face, large owllike eyes with a nictitating membrane, and gray brown fur with about 14 black stripes. It is hunted for pelts, kept in London zoos, and thrives at high elevations in Tasmania.
