Driver charged in student’s fatal bus stop crash
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says state’s attorney filed a vehicular manslaughter charge and 15 traffic counts against Matthew Culwell, 22, for fatally injuring 7-year-old Robert Mitten Jr as he waited with his mother and sister for a school bus on Md. 26. Culwell, to be arraigned in Circuit Court, also faces speeding and reckless driving charges among others. The incident left Mitten dead and injured his mother Candy Hartlaub Mitten, 35, and sister Holly Lynn Hartlaub, 10.
