Social Security to review claims denied in past court settlement
The Social Security Administration plans to review about 38,000 prior denial cases nationwide for disability benefits by April, with some checks possibly dating back to 1978. Another 23,000 SSI and 5,000 SSDI claimants will receive letters in March and late March. unreadable envelopes will trigger local office searches. Plaintiffs in Baltimore lawsuits argued disability standards ignored age, education, and work history. Those eligible must act within 60 days of letter, or risk late filing. appeals and rights remain under federal law.
