Poisoned ginger ale on private car linked to Eisenhower trip
Secret Service opened a routine inquiry into reports that a ginger ale on private car Chessie 29 may have been poisoned four days before President Eisenhower traveled from Washington to White Sulphur Springs. Nine people aboard two crews and a visiting family drank the beverage. three fell ill but none seriously. Tests on bottles and samples were inconclusive, with authorities noting all meals and drink service checked before the President used the car.
