Local Churches Plan Easter Sunrise Services Across County
Several parishes invite the public to Easter Sunday services. A 6 am Sunrise Service on Sugarloaf Mountain is sponsored by upper Montgomery churches, rain or shine, with seating limited and requests for chairs and flashlights. Additional services include a 6:30 am gathering at Baker Park Band Shell, a 6:30 am at Calvary United Methodist Church if weather dislikes, and a 6 am Gambrill State Park service with signs posted. Emmitsburg hosts a 6:30 am National Shrine Grotto of Lourdes service with Monsignor Phillips greeting attendees. Good Friday offerings include Stations of the Cross at noon and a 1:30 pm homily, plus the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3 pm. all events are open to the public.
