High Court To Review Wiretaps
The Supreme Court agreed to review a lower court ruling that tossed out wiretap evidence affecting over 50 criminal prosecutions. The case questions whether applications signed by Sol Lindenbaum, aide to ex Attorney General John Mitchell, were valid under the 1968 Crime Control Act and whether such taps can stand if unsigned by the AG. The government warns invalid taps could disrupt organized crime control efforts.
