Lane proposal could aid Frederick County schools
Governor Lane's funding plan for school buildings may benefit Frederick County though details remain unclear. County leaders say the area is in a strong fiscal position and could borrow about 2.5 million for construction if state sources cover debt over 15 years. Allegany County, by contrast, seeks a quadrupled incentive fund and plans a three million dollar program with six million more needed in five years.

Deceives Defenders By False Carding
National bridge authority piece recounts a Norwegian expert’s view on deceptive play. Nielsen, president of the Norwegian Bridge League, discusses a hand where misdirection and redoublement altered the score. He analyzes opening leads and trick continuations from a Norway tournament.
Card play analysis in a bridge hand with overtricks
The play shows Mitt partner leading the diamond nine with the jack of diamonds held by Nielsen winning the trick with the jack. Nielsen then cashes the remaining tricks, making two overtricks doubled and redoubled. The hand could have been defeated if West had opened clubs.
