The decision significantly impacts banking institutions across the state.

Seabright New Jersey March 25 the schooner Emily D Johnson ran ashore in a heavy gale at 1 39 in the morning and all six crew were rescued by local life savers after a dramatic surfside operation. The vessel bound from Baltimore to New York will be a total wreck though the crew and captain were saved. Washington E Connor a New York broker owns a house on the coast and his servants alerted the lifeboat crew. The town cheered the rescuers as rockets marked progress and a breeches buoy brought each sailor to shore.
In Trenton on March 25 the legislature defeated the proposal to alter the township school law of 1894 by a 27 vote. The house passed measures restricting beer arks sales at Asbury Park and barring underage drinking and pool hall use by minors and students with parental consent. The house rejected making drunkenness or profanity in tenement houses a disorderly offense. A Senate bill introduced a double drawbridge between Burlington and Bristol.
Twin brothers George and Calvin Holmes fought a duel to the death near Mooreshill. George died after exchanges of shots while Calvin was wounded about the heart. Neighbors report a long-running feud linking them to a prominent county family.

The funeral for Harvey Miller was held this afternoon at his East Patrick street home at 2 o'clock. Rev. W. L. McKenney officiated for BE EB Church. A quartet performed two selections. Pallbearers included Charles W. Hargett and others. interment followed at Mt Olive Cemetery. W. H. B. Edison was the undertaker.
