Thieves described as professionals broke into the Woodsboro American Legion and nearby Post Office early this morning, peeling two steel safes and stealing stamps, cash, and gaming machine funds. Cpl. William F. Davis leads the State Police probe. no arrests yet.

Easter Holiday School Schedule At Frederick Area
Frederick Community College closes tonight after classes for Easter and spring vacation. Classes resume next Thursday. County public schools close at noon Thursday and reopen Tuesday morning. Students take a half day Thursday to make up a snow day. Saint John's Catholic parochial school closed all day Thursday and until Monday April for the Easter vacation.

About 250 guests at a Washington open house hosted by Congressman Charles Mathias and his wife were served a 30 pound Real Maryland Day cake from Cappello's Bakery in Frederick. Head baker Fred Oland described the two layer cake with Maryland colors and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever center topper. The cake required 36 eggs and multiple pounds of flour sugar and other ingredients with two hours of decorating.
