Physical education push targets middle aged Americans
Professor Cureton argues middle age in the United States begins at 38 and that life without outdoor activity accelerates physical decline. He calls for a positive program including walking, running, skating, skiing, dancing, canoeing, rowing, climbing and hiking, noting many apartment dwellers do little outdoor work and face time constraints. He labels modern routines insufficient and urges practical, varied activity to counter unfitness.
