Woman Burned As Mt Airy Home Fires
A Mt Airy woman suffered second degree burns to her face arms and chest after entering her burning home to seek her husband who was nearby at the fire station. The blaze gutted the six room frame dwelling causing about 14000 in damages. The husband Orry F Runkles was en route when she reentered the home as neighbors helped her son Exwood escape from a second floor window. State Trooper Paul Kline cited a defective basement switch igniting kindling under the porch. The couple, both over 60, lost all possessions. Mrs Runkles was treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital and was in fair condition later.
