A dawn influx of as many as 1000 wild geese wandered Frederick city streets and areas around Carroll Creek and the Francis Scott Key Hotel. Police and residents reported geese roosting on roofs and flying low over homes, with several sightings near Frederick Airport and the Key Hotel. No property damage was reported as birds moved on with daylight. Seagulls were seen circling the airport, headed toward Frederick.

A highly successful Frederick High School carnival last night drew about 500 attendees and ran four hours starting at 7 o clock. George B Douglas Jr led the event. Arnold Fleagle supervised students who built and ran many concessions. Proceeds, though not yet tallied, aim to raise about 1200 for sending 23 students to Newton Mass. The program featured a talent revue, movies, a turtle race, cake sales, and a popular wet sponge throw with mothers selling refreshments on Market Street.
