New Russian Armed Forces Chief Named Vasilevsky
London reports Marshal Alexander Vasilevsky, 49, is appointed Minister of the Armed Forces in the Soviet Union, succeeding Marshal Nikolai Bulganin. The change follows broader shifts in Soviet leadership, including Molotov's replacement by Vishinsky and Bulganin's deputy premier role. Bulganin retains influence as deputy premier. Vasilevsky, previously deputy minister, replaces him amid a pattern of delegating administration to focus on policy making.
