Men Under 26 Face Early Inductions
Washington reports intensified wartime draft directives aimed at faster induction of men 25 and younger for combat. Major General Hershey ordered boards to reclassify deferments, halt 26 and over approvals until younger workers are processed, and to pre‑induct under 28s with occupational deferments. 4-F classifications are to be tightened as industry protests about worker relocation are addressed.
