Gen Schenck Dead A War Leader and Former Minister to England
Washington special reports General Robert Cumming Schenck died at five o clock on Massachusetts avenue from pneumonia and diphtheritic complications at age eighty one. The longtime congressman soldier and diplomat had been ill about two weeks with bronchitis and pneumonia with private funeral planned in Dayton Ohio conducted by Bishop Leonard. He was born October 4 1809 in Franklin Ohio and his interment will be private.

In Howard County circuit court on Saturday, Wm. L. Crawford vs. Jno. Whit hill for 4500 for services and loaned money, removed from Frederick county to Baltimore county. Wm. H. Harrison vs. Joseph Carter for 10000 for slander, and Harrison vs. Carter and Mary Carter for 10000 for slander, submitted without arraignment and held sub curia. The latter suit concerns executor Wm. Latchford and a 21,500 claim to his daughter in law. a 200 discrepancy alleged. Defense denied knowledge of indorsed checks. Counsel: Stanley and Wootton for plaintiff, Hammond for defense. Grand jury report presented and discharged.
