Maryland Senate approves two-bill abortion compromise
The Maryland Senate ended an eight day filibuster by approving a plan to send two abortion bills to the House. The compromise allows a pro choice measure to become law unless voters reject it in November, while an anti abortion bill would take effect if the referendum fails. House leaders pledged quick review and Gov. Schaefer would not comment on signing or veto.

Census forms go out to Frederick residents
Frederick area residents will receive 1990 U S Census forms in the mail today. The forms were printed by Moore Business Forms in Thurmont, completing the project ahead of schedule. Moore printed 43 million forms, about 40 percent of the total, starting in October and finishing March 1, 20 days early.
