New law changes quarters of coverage for social security
Legislation enacted into law alters how quarters of coverage are earned for social security benefits. Workers now earn one quarter per $250 in annual covered earnings, with a four quarter cap, and self employed earn four quarters per $1 000 of net earnings. Changes also adjust tips liability, clergy coverage, and offer a public leaflet from the Frederick Social Security Office.
