Woman Faces Drug Charges After Accident in Funkstown

Gwendolyn E Shriver, 46, of Williamsport, Maryland, was charged after an accident in Funkstown. Police said a witness reported a vehicle fled the scene and a lookout was issued. Found on Md 65 near Poffenberger Road, she had a bloody face. Officers recovered 46 hypodermic needles a film canister with suspected cocaine five spoons and she faced multiple offenses including DUI and possession charges.

Montgomery police form regional drug task force in Rockville

Gaithersburg Rockville and Montgomery County join to create a Municipal Drug Task Force targeting illegal drug sales and open air markets. Teen charged with attempted murder in Milington fire

Kent County teenager Jessica Marie Trimble, 16, was arrested for arson and attempted murder after setting her parents three story Mil lington home on fire March 6. The blaze caused about $15,000 damage with no injuries. She faces life in prison if convicted.

Thurmont teen charged in late February crime spree

A 17 year old Thurmont youth was charged in a February crime spree. He faced counts for a Feb 22 breaking and entering at Amoco on North Church Street, a Feb 23 theft of two cases of Budweiser from Rocky’s Pizza, Feb 23 meat theft from Hoffman's Market, Feb 24 failed break in at Red Door Sub Shop, and a Feb 25 arson attempt on a barcar owned by Maryland Midland Railroad. He was released to his parents after a Frederick County Circuit Court hearing. More arrests expected.

Heavy Snow Strikes California Mountains Amid Dry East

Northern California mountains see snowfall while the Midwest and East stay warm and dry. An inch of snow falls across Napa Sonoma Mendocino and Lake counties as northeast Nevada southeast Idaho northern Utah and southwest Wyoming report two to five inches. Winds reach 52 mph at Crescent City as a Pacific storm shifts inland. Sierra snowpack stands at 146 inches at Donner Pass versus 21 inches last year. Strong storms bring hail in Redding and forecasts warn of rain snow and winds spreading inland.

Delinquent parents may lose licenses under Maryland bill

Maryland House backs a plan to suspend drivers licenses for nonpayment of child support. The measure, praised by supporters as saving taxpayers money, would add enforcement through the Motor Vehicle Administration though opponents warn of longer lines and broader penalties. The bill passed 119 to 11 and moves to the Senate.
