Public Defender and Central Alarm Budgets Tabled

County commissioners hear budget requests from the Public Defender seeking about 15000 more to raise the salary from 7000 to between 10000 and 12000 and for possible hiring of an assistant defender. Central Alarm requests 47000 for 1972, with 465132 as compromise. funds for a base station for Lewistown VFD and a new tape system to replay calls.

Baptist Youths Plan Weekend Convention

The Maryland Baptist Youth Convention will meet at the First Baptist Church on Dill Avenue this Friday and Saturday with over 500 registered, expected to exceed 550. Activities include registration and dinner at the Holiday Inn, lodging at the Red Horse Inn and Francis Scott Key Hotel, a 7 p.m. opening session, a talent parade, Saturday conferences starting at 9 a.m., lunch at Baker Park, and a final session at 4 a.m. The program features varied topics and plans for a week-long Youth Week at Hood College in 1972 led by Rev. Sam A. High and youth from across Maryland.
