Tawes Details Maryland Boundary History and Mason Dixon Line
Maryland Comptroller Millard J. Tawes spoke to the Frederick Rotary about the disputed 40th parallel and the 29 degrees 49 minutes Mason Dixon Line. He outlined early grants, Penn Baltimore feuds, and how surveys shaped the border between Maryland and Pennsylvania with Delaware and Virginia impacts. He noted maps sparked controversy and that engineers Mason and Dixon eventually fixed the line.
