Loss Of Submarine Scorpion Announced
Washington reports the loss of the American submarine Scorpion with about 75 crew aboard after it was listed overdue. The Navy says the Scorpion is presumed lost, raising American submarine losses since the war began to 23, with many sunk by enemy action in Japanese waters. Frederick garbage truck helper injured in fall

Cumberland March 22 Thomas Post defeated incumbent Thomas F. Conlon for the Cumberland mayoral post by 723 votes in the general election yesterday.
