Johnson Traded From Athletics to Senators for Infielders
Philadelphia March 21 Connie Mack announced the trade of Bob Johnson slugging outfielder who balked at a 1943 contract with the Philadelphia Athletics to the Washington Senators for infielders Roberto Estalella and Jimmy Fofahl. The deal aims to strengthen Mack's weakest unit as training camp opens in Wilmington Delaware. Johnson had refused to sign over a bonus tied to last year's attendance, while Mack argued box office figures failed to reach the bonus threshold.
