Forest wardens urged to combat spring fire risk in mountains
The article highlights an impending forest fire season in Frederick and Washita counties. Wardens are urged to stay watchful, with calls for home telephone-equipped wardens and cost-shared phone lines. Community meetings are planned to discuss prevention and firefighting, praising wardens’ past performance and noting low fires last season. Lions club funding recognizes outstanding wardens with a silver trophy, to be engraved annually on a silver loving cup awarded to a warden.
