A historical notice cites Mrs Welcher’s long battle with pain ending after using Paine s Celery Compound. The piece rails against fraudulent springtime cures promoted globally by unscrupulous marketers selling unsafe tonics as remedies.
An antiquated testimonial touts Paine’s Celery Compound as a disease-curing remedy. It claims physicians failed yet asserts rapid improvement and full restoration of health for chronic bowel sufferers, including Mrs. H. A. Welcher of Kingston Tennessee after four bottles.
Sement is announced that violinist Jan Kubelik and Countess Marianne Csaky nee Von Stell are connected. The Countess is said to be related to former Hungarian prime minister von Susi while Kubelik reportedly earned $100,000 for his last U S tour.
Buffalo March 21 Superintendent Bull holds firm that a woman killed Edward L Burdick and maintains the same suspect as on the murder day. He cites agreement with Mr Cusack and the district attorney. Dr Danser says a cocktail bottle cannot have caused the wounds and a hatchet edge weapon or a golf putter could fit the injuries.

Jefferson City March 21 The Armour Cudahy Swift Hammond and Schwarzchild Sulzberger packing firms were fined 25000 each and ordered to pay costs of about 5900 in a Missouri Supreme Court decision finding a beef price maintaining combine to outprice rivals. The ruling cites weekly price fixing rebating and uniform market prices across markets as evidence of an illegal antitrust scheme. If fines and costs are unpaid within 30 days the defendants face ouster from the state.
The president reappointed W. D. Crim colored collector at Charleston and William Byrne United States district official for Delaware after Senate failed to confirm them. They will hold office pending next session action. Also, John Blizzard died after being struck by a trolley near Bridgeton New Jersey while intoxicated.
Philadelphia reports George B White, vice president and director of Bank of South Pennsylvania at Hyndman, arrested on embezzlement and related irregularities totaling about $20,000. Held in $8,000 bail. warrant by Special Bank Examiner W A Mason under orders from Attorney General Knox.
C Moensch & Sons Co and Moensch Fischer Gaenssien, Gowanda, insolvent. Receivers sought. capital stocks 1.5 million and 0.6 million. Plants at Catta Yangus Gowanda Salamanca and Alpena Mich. Assets 1,258,009. liabilities 634,900 with 500,000 contingent.
Mrs G Oliver Iselin wife of the manager of the cup yacht project will christen the boat and may ride with her husband during the racing season. Work on the boat rack is expected to be practically finished by April 15.
New York reports General A. R. Chaffee told a Methodist Social Union audience that he never met an intelligent Chinaman who wanted to embrace Christianity. He cited conversations in Pekin with officials, saying the masses are against Christianity while missionaries are hopeful but overburdened. Dr. Gamewell echoed cautious optimism, stressing education of China's youth as the hope for the country.
In Long Island Sound the steamers Plymouth and City of Taunton collided in fog near Plum Island. Six aboard the Plymouth died and several were injured. One victim was a passenger. Investigation will determine responsibility. Several Italian steerage passengers on the Plymouth were reported missing. The Taunton’s bow rammed the Plymouth’s starboard cabins, tearing out staterooms.
In Georgetown Delaware on March 21 Elmer Collins faced cross examination after the state closed its murder case. A neighbor testified hearing a man say I will kill you before morning near the Collins home as the victim Ilda Collins lay dead on the farm. The defense began presenting its case noting the couple’s six year marriage had no prior trouble and promising witnesses to place the morning of April 12 in question.
The Coal Strike Commission report released by Provident Roosevelt on March 21 condemns no union recognition but urges a general 10 percent wage rise for miners and laborers, reduces some hours, mandates arbitration for future disputes, sets minimum wages with a sliding scale, prohibits operator discrimination by union status, and orders awards to hold until March 1, 1906.
Altoona March 1 The second bituminous district coal miners won an eight hour day after weeks of hard work. A wage scale was signed with 10 to 19 percent increases for various mine jobs while pump and monthly men retain current pay. Outside mine workers gain 19 percent with a $14 daily minimum for trappers. No Saturday half holiday observed except holidays and funerals.
Chicago dispatch reports Selz Schwab & Co shoe workers were dismissed after a lone fireman went on strike for union wages. The striking employee, paid 12 14 cents an hour, joined the Brotherhood of Stationary Firemen which demanded 28 and a half cents. Plant closed until further notice.

Mr FE K Frazie, 69, who recently had a severe stroke, endured another attack yesterday in his South Market Street store. He was delirious, then slept well and improved. doctors warn any further attack could be fatal.
