Kennedy vs Eisenhower Aims and Styles Compared
James Marlow notes two months into Kennedy's term that he is more vigorous and detail oriented than Eisenhower. Kennedy engages directly with staff, seeks votes in Congress, and reads extensively, while Eisenhower relied on chain of command and held back from bold reforms. The piece contrasts Dulles era leadership with Rusk, praises improved interagency communication, and questions Kennedy strategy in Laos and colonialism and the Latin American aid plan remains vague.
